WHAT TO WEAR? | COLLEGE / WORK LOOK | OOTD

sreshtakirad fashion casual, college look, Fashion, OOTD, whattowear, work look 0

Exploding wardrobes, hundreds of clothes but still the  same conclusion “l have nothing to wear.” Admit it that’s the thing we say every day when we sit totally idol staring at our pile of clothes.

So this look is totally unexpected one. I played a little bit and this is the final outlook. This can be a college, school or work look.

It all started with a search for a dress. A dress which would be perfect for a casual day out. After cluttering a little bit a grey sweater dress matched my expectations. Collared neckline and sleeve detailing helped me to put together work wear vibes.

February comes as an official arrival of spring. But still, I wouldn’t dare going out with putting a spaghetti top and shorts. I paired it up with tights as I was so determined towards pulling out a casual look and a pair of black leather boots could never go wrong. I am in love with tiny bags these days and to match the color palette of the outfit I finished my look with a black studded bag.

 DETAILS :-

 Sweater dress – splash

Boots – forever21

So, I never posted OOTD blogs. This was a random look. I’ll be glad to do more such posts. Do let me know if you liked it and if you want me to do more such posts.

You can also let me know through my social media which are Linked down and also on my side bar.

Also, this is my 10th blog post. I never thought I’d be posting my first. I want to thank you all for being with me through my journey so far.

HOLI SKINCARE AND HAIRCARE

sreshtakirad Beauty 0

The thought of Holi leaves me nostalgic every single time. Running across gallis to spoil your ‘oh so skin conscious’ friend’s face. Escaping from that khadoos aunty on whom you spill gulaal. Buying the best pichkari and water gun. Balloon fights and what not?

Though u had the most epic or not so epic Holi. After math is the same. pink faces, Dry skin, and damaged hair. But proper care pre and post you start the Holi drama can minimize the damage. Or let’s say people would never know that you went bonkers playing Holi the other day.

Here are few tips which I learned and have been using for years of playing Holi.

PRE HOLI

1. APPLY A THICK MOISTURIZER

Leaving your house with bare Face is not ideal. No matter how organic your colors are, those tend to clog your pores. So apply a thick layer of moisturizer which acts as a shield between your skin and the color.

2. SUNSCREEN IS A MUST

This is something which we all neglect. Holi is one of those festivals which are celebrated outdoors and we are most likely to get tanned. So, apply sunscreen at least before 20 mins you start playing holi.

3. APPLY VASELINE

Applying vaseline behind your ears, between your fingers and at areas where color gets settled and is difficult to remove.

4. STAY HYDRATED

Drink plenty of water. Harmful Chemicals present in colors dehydrate your skin. So, drinking lots of water will keep you hydrated inside out. Also, weather during Holi is hot. Staying hydrated helps you beat the heat.

5. PAINT YOUR NAILS

One of the difficult places where color doesn’t leave easily is nails. Nail polish protects from getting the color on your nails.

6. CALL OILS TO THE RESCUE

I know I might be sounding so old school right now, but this works. Apply coconut oil or olive oil all over your body.  This avoids color from sticking to your skin and makes getting rid of the color easier.  I know most of hate that sticky feeling on our body. But, this one step plays an important role in not turning your Holi into a nightmare.

7. Makeup is a big NO!

Yeah.. you heard it right, girls. I know how much means to you but I also know that you wouldn’t risk damaging your skin. Holi is all about water and colors. Makeup sits on your skin and any disturbances like colors will only cause clogging. So to prevent clogging of pores avoid makeup.

8. WEAR FULL CLOTHES

Cover yourself as much as possible. This prevents direct contact of color with your skin.

POST HOLI:

1. EMULSIFY

Lay your hands on whichever oil that suits you and start emulsifying the color. Make sure that this would be your first step. And then cleanse your face as usual.

2. MOISTURIZE

Chemicals might leave your skin dull, dry and devasted. Apply lots and lots of moisturizer which will help your skin to heal.

3. AVOID SCRUBBING

Getting rid of color gets a little trickier sometimes. That doesn’t mean you have to scrub the life out of your skin. Use of colors and chemicals leaves your skin irritated already. Scrubbing only leads to further irritation and chronic dryness. So no matter how hard it is avoid scrubbing.

4. USE LEMON JUICE

Instead of scrubbing your skin. Try using lemon juice. Rub lemon in the areas where color is stubborn and doesn’t go easily. This will help you to remove color gently.

HAIRCARE

1. COVER YOUR HAIR

Style your hair with turbans and bandanas. This will give you a bohemian touch as well as helps you cover your hair.

2. OILING

Again this is one of those grandma tips. Oiling acts as a layer between those harmful chemicals and your hair. Prepping your hair with oil provides some extra nutrition helping to prevent dryness post holi. Also, that greasiness helps you to get rid of the color faster.

3. FOR SENSITIVE SCALP

Chemicals used in Holi colors tend to irritate a sensitive scalp. use lemon essential oil which acts a shield on your scalp. This will prevent any irritation caused by whatsoever means.

4. DEEP CONDITION

We already discussed the importance of adding nutrition to our hair. For some extra nutrition prep your with deep conditioning masks.

POST HOLI

1. RINSE YOUR THROUGHLY

Before adding some more chemicals to your hair rinse your hair completely with plain water until water runs clear. This step will save up the extra application of shampoo and prevents further drying.

2. USE SULPHATE FREE SHAMPOO

Use a mild shampoo to wash your hair. post holi our hair is more brittle than usual due to the harmful chemicals. and usage of harsh chemicals in your shampoo will only worsen the situation.

3. AVOID HOT WATER

Washing hair with hot water on a regular basis is damaging already. using hot water post holi will only make your hair dry and brittle.

4. MASKING

Get back all the nutrition and shine your hair has lost. make yourself a reconstruction or a nutrition mask. This will restore the damage making your hair healthy as it was before.

* USE FENUGREEK SEEDS AND CURD MASK FOR LUXE HAIR

* EGG AND YOGURT MAKES A GOOD  PROTEIN MASK

So, these were my personal tips which I use every year pre and post holi. Everybody has their own skin type and hair type.

If u have any doubts or any related queries feel free to ask by mentioning in comments below or at any of my social media.

Wishing you a very happy and safe Holi.

Take care, bye

LIPSTICK OBSESSION OF THE SEASON | COLORBAR KISS PROOF LIP STAIN | MINI REVIEW

LIPSTICK OBSESSION OF THE SEASON | COLORBAR KISS PROOF LIP STAIN | MINI REVIEW

sreshtakirad Beauty 0

Liquid lipsticks put me away from the fuss of reapplication. Honestly, reapplying lipsticks over and over again is a task. Some of them are too drying but ok we have lip balms to the rescue. At least it spares you from transferring and messing.

So, this FALL-WINTER I was totally obsessed with this lipstick from colorbar. It’s the colorbar kiss proof lip stain in the shade rustic. Now, this lipstick is no new to the market but still manages to hit the top 10 liquid lipsticks list by most of the beauty gurus. So I’d better stop exaggerating and give you all a quick review of the product or on why I was so obsessed with this lipstick.

The kiss proof range has 8 shades from which I already tried the shade Hollywood.  Hollywood is that perfect bright red. So I was going through liquid lipsticks and I came across this coral shade called rustic. Rustic is that coral pale-ish orange which is ideal for the fall-winter season. Falls are all about this maple leaf shade.

I don’t have a win-win experience with oranges. Most of them tend to wash me off. But this muted orange shade suited my medium to dusky skin tone so perfectly that I couldn’t stop myself from wearing this repeatedly.

PACKAGING

This comes with the classic colorbar silver packaging. I have been liking metallic packaging these days. Not only packaging I am in love with everything metallic. Lipstick has the same silver body and the transparent part makes it easy to identify the color.  The name and number of the shade are mentioned at the bottom of the product. Apart from that, the sticker is not just any plain one with a name on it but it is colored such that you don’t have to read out the name for identification every single time.

PRODUCT REVIEW

The wand has a pointy tip which helps in precise application of the lipstick. It has a very thin consistency that it doesn’t feel like you have something on your lips. Post application it takes 5 – 10 minutes to settle and become completely matte. True to its name it doesn’t transfer but can be extremely drying at times. So I prefer applying lip balm 5 mins prior to the application.

I used this lipstick for most of my fall winter and the only reason I wore it so often has nothing to do with its formulation or pigmentation. It just made me look good and I was overly determined to wear particular shades throughout fall-winter (funny right? ). So this was a mini review cum story about a product which I was totally obsessed with.

If you want me to do a full review of this product or any product which you have in your mind please do let me know.

DITCHING CLASSIC(s)

sreshtakirad fashion 2018, diwalilookbook, Fashion, festivelook, fusionlookbook, indianfashion, indo-western, OOTD 0

No matter how much I love dolling up in Indian wear, I never stop digging for comfortable options to replace them. Yeah! yeah! I know and I believe that fusion can never replace the authentic Indian wear, but the term COMFORTABLE does exist. Right?

Diwali is neither just Laxmi puja nor it’s a one-day festival. Its a marathon of parties which demands us to dress up. Indian parties are never boring or flat. They never fail to run you out of energy. And if you are tired of dressing up already then its not the time to give up. It’s the time to spice up your dressing game. Amidst of all that naach – gaana, you don’t want your lehenga to stop you from having fun and yet get that vibe going?  Then its time to ditch classics and go fusion without compromising the elegance.

So, this Diwali while having all those limitations, my craving for perfect outfits lead me to global desi stores. I am in love with their festive collection. They have a wide range of indo-western with that right touch of elegance, matching my festive needs perfectly.

Look 1

I promised myself that this year I would wear a fusion saree to at least one of the festivities. Earlier, I thought I might have to style it from scratch. Then I got lucky with brands launching their own range of fusion sarees.

This one from global desi is a dhoti style saree with gold foil print all over it. With foil prints ruling this festive season, it didn’t let the elegance lack in this outfit. It can be paired with a bralette, crop top, peplum top, with a gold blouse or this top( which I wore) from the same collection. To finish the outfit I wore these block heels from the label life.

For makeup, I created gold shimmery eyes and kept it subtle with a nude lipstick

Quick tip:

Replace your stilettos with block heels or wedges to survive a little longer and to avoid heel cramps.

Look 2

Anything maxi makes me happy. No indo-western look is complete without adding a skirt outfit to it. I love pairing up my skirts in multiple ways. Except for the foil print, the color got me attracted to it. This shade of pink screamed happy at me. Unlike the other outfit, the foil print is more detailed and silver. Instead of pairing it up with something obvious, I used this gold Bardot crop top to compliment the outfit. For the footwear, I simply went barefoot for a simple reason that I absent-mindedly came out of the house wearing flip-flops. That surely doesn’t mean you have to go barefoot too. pair it up with some amazing juti’s or metallic pumps, wedges etc.

I finished the look by adding a silver statement neckpiece, a vintage anklet, and few bangles. Just to add a hint of color, I went with blue eyeliner for my eyes and pink lips.

So, that’s it for ditching classics this Diwali.

Please do comment and share if you like it.

STORY TIME WITH STEVE MADDEN

sreshtakirad fashion, Lifestyle

Hello beautiful people,

First of all, wishing you a very happy new year. May you reach all your goals and stick to your resolutions.

I know it’s been so long since I posted something here. so today I just wanted to talk about my favorite pair of shoes. People who know me already are aware that I am mad about shoes. Be it sneakers, stilettos, wedges, flip-flops I love them all.

These bomb-ass babies which I am crushing over for the longest time now are from Steve Madden. I bought them while I was on my trip t Kolkata. As it was the last day of my trip, I thought of spoiling myself with a present.

I was at the quest mall located at Ballygunge, Kolkata. It was one of the biggest malls in Kolkata with a variety of luxury brands like Gucci, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors, Emporio Armani etc. Being at a walkable distance from my room, this became my most visited place in Kolkata. I loved spending time here, shopping and eating at the food court.

So, while the hunt for a perfect present was on, I was going store by store trying to figure out. And yeah I had a lot of options to choose from, which makes the task more difficult than we think. But, okay!! I survived. I didn’t want to visit Steve Madden store….until, my eyes met these babies. I know this is more like a romantic story. But yeah, that was love at first sight. And those were the days while reversible sequins were one of my top obsessions. I had every reason to get my hands on them.

So, This is how Romeo met Juliet and unlike the story, they lived happily ever after. Just kidding!! but, my love for shoes is no less than their love.

This is it for the mini story session cum blog. Comment below or on my social media if you can relate✌❤

TRYING NYKAA EYELINERS | REVIEW |

sreshtakirad Beauty 0

Hello beautiful people,

Eyeliners play a major role in every girls daily life. Most of us don’t even step out of the house without putting a  kajal/eyeliner. I am one of those girls. eyeliners can be a total game changer when it comes to transforming a look. A person can go from looking dead to alive within seconds with this beauty product. For someone who loves makeup or someone who keeps makeup at bay, eyeliner is owned by almost every girl. because kajal is not makeup.

These come in various shades, formulations and can be worn in a literal million ways. and this wedding season amp your liner game with these 4 eyeliners from nykaa. nykaa has launched their products in almost every category. Today well be trying our hands on their eyeliners which are available in various shades and packagings. These 4 will be the topic for today.

NYKAA ROCK THE LINE KAJAL

Traditionally known as kajal, is one of the basic categories of eyeliner which all Indian women swear by. These are the trickiest to choose from as there are thousands of options in the market. I like my kajal to be smudge free and nicely pigmented. I think that’s what most of the girls would want.

Coming down to this product by nykaa, it has very beautiful packaging. the pink and black combination has my heart. I would give it 10 on 10 for the looks with that price range. the pencil is retractable and is travel-friendly.

The pigmentation of the product is not as intensely black as other kohls in the market, but it does the job quite well. It has a decent color payoff and stays on the waterline for a reasonable amount of time. But after a good 10 hours or so I find it forming a black cast under my eyes. except that this kajal is a great addition to your vanity.

NYKAA EYEM BLACK KAJAL

Whenever I think of Gel eyeliners only thing that strikes my mind is that classic pot and brush. as time changed we got introduced to gel eyeliner pencils which gives us the gel finish with the ease of a pencil. This one by nykaa is rich black and glides on smoothly on your lids. the shade I am using is called black knight and its the only shade available in this range.

It comes with a free sharpener as it is not retractable and retails for rupees 375.

PROS                                                                                                 CONS

Inexpensive                                                                                Non-retractable

Great pigmentation                                                                  Doesn’t last long

Smooth and buttery texture                                                   Smudges slightly

Glides easily                                                                               Not ideal for waterline

PRICE-  375/-INR

BLACK MAGIC LIQUID LINER

I am not a big fan of liquid liners especially when it’s not a pen or a sketch liner. I can adjust with any kind of pen liners but these are not my thing. it has the formulation which almost every liquid eyeliner would have. This lasts very long and its smudge proof. I just don’t like the way it dries glossy. but if you love liquid liners you should definitely give it a try.

PRICE-  299/-

BUY HERE!!

NYKAA 24H VINYL LUXE

Next up is one of my fav products. this eyeliner is yet another liquid liner but this one dries matte, has a flexible tip, stays long and is smudge proof. I won’t say it is completely waterproof but does the job. I totally recommend this liner over the previous one. the best thing has to be the tip, it doesn’t feel like its a brush type liner. it is as flexible as a pen liner. except for the price point  so, next time you are confused about what eyeliner to buy, choose this blindly.

PRICE- 699/-

BUY HERE!!

So there ends the review. I am trying a lot of nykaa products lately, as it is one of the best among Indian drugstore. Do let me know if you want to see any other reviews.

Take care, bye!!

MY HAIR’S NEVER BEEN SO SHORT IN 9 YEARS

MY HAIR’S NEVER BEEN SO SHORT IN 9 YEARS

sreshtakirad fashion, Lifestyle balayage, haircolor, long-bob, shorthair 0

A few months ago, the thought of short hair would scare me. I love my hair. moreover, my goal was to have butt length hair. The picture of getting my hair short was nowhere in the depths of my brain. when I went to get my red hair color done earlier in June, the stylist cut my hair short. I won’t call it short but it was shorter than before. I cried for days. I loved the color but I kept wondering how great it would look on my old hair. well, that’s typical me.
I saw Selena Gomez rock a lob last year. that’s where it all started, but I wasn’t sure if it would suit me. Then, every second person I follow on Instagram started to get their hair short. And after asking a million people or maybe the same person for a million times (because I don’t even know a million people).

I DECIDED.

One unsuccessful attempt and a successful attempt is what it took. now here I am, chilling on a Tuesday night in a lob, like a boss.
The last time I had my hair this short was in 7th grade. I have grown my hair ever since until 2018.
Well, 2018 was all about going bold or going home with my hair. one of the best things of the previous year has to be my hair makeovers.

THE HAIRCUT

The hair cut I got done is a long bob, also known as demi-bob. The strands fall long on the front and short at the back. mine doesn’t look a lot angular, but I am super happy with it.

THE COLOR

This time I went a little subtle with the color. I wanted something more prominent and bold, but I stick to subtle honey blonde. The technique used was balayage. It suits my haircut pretty well. but I wish it was bold though.

here are a few details about the color

SALON: Bubbles hair and beauty salon, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad

TECHNIQUE: Balayage

COLOR: Honey

DOUBLE TROUBLE

sreshtakirad fashion denimondenim, doubledenim, fashionblogger, trends2019, winterlookbook 0

As denim on denim was one of the hottest trends in 2018, I wasn’t sure if it would still be seen this year. I didn’t really have the guts to try this in 2018. but your girl finally got over it (applause please).  I was always scared that I would mess it up and end up looking… I don’t know, bad!! and yet I didn’t want to miss out. every time I walked past the Calvin Klein store, the poster of  Kardashians nailing denim on denim would make want to try that right away. so I finally decided to do it. I was planning my winter lookbook and it happened.

DENIM ON DENIM HAPPENED!!

you might be wondering “why is she exaggerating so much about it?”

I might very well be sounding like that. but can you just take a moment and google it. you will get results lining up. name one celebrity who hasn’t tried it yet? (except me)

double denim was quite popular in the ’90s and 2018 was all about re-doing the 90’s. so, how polka dots, stripes, oversized garments, neon, graphic tees, flared pants, puffed sleeves, ruffles etc time traveled to 2018, denim on denim decided to come back too. honestly, it was never gone and I think it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

MY LOOK

Enough of talking about how others pulled it off.  let’s have a look at how I put it all together. as I said earlier this was going to be a part of my winter lookbook. so it had to be winter and that’s why I chose a sweater.

RULES

one of the basic rules to double the denim is to wear the same shade on top and bottom. picking dark shades is a win-win because it makes you look slimmer.

I played safe by keeping it basic and casual. I got a little inspired by Jughead Jones (a Riverdale character). my whole look put together was a two-toned, semi-cropped denim jacket from max, a white crop knitsweater from h&m and high-waisted denim jeans from myntra. lastly, I paired it up with a pair of black block heels.

INSPIRATION

Well, that was my version of double denim.

If you are planning to try it, now is the time. get some inspiration from these ladies. They completely owned it. and just get started!!

so, that was all i had to share about double denim trend. i tried something different this time.

WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER

sreshtakirad Uncategorized 0

God made women so beautifully. She can carry forward a generation. She is blessed with menstruation, pregnancy, and lactation. That makes her different and unique both emotionally and physically.
She fears, she prays, she cares. She knows to love unconditionally. She is a mother, a knight in shining armor. she is a sister, a daughter, a wife. Oh, brave soul.. how does she manage to sacrifice?!

Yes, superheroes exist. I’d say they are all women. Then why don’t we see a lot of them as movie characters?

Maybe because they exist in real life.

Today,

I will not talk about how many girls won’t make it to school. I will not talk about how most of the girls are married at a young age. I will also not talk about how most of them are unaware about menstrual hygiene.

Also not about rapes, inequality, lack of opportunities, harassment, safety etc.

Those problems exist.

They have been existing in this society for a very long time now. I am not saying it’s not important.

But there are a few little things which need to be changed first. Things which have been existing among ourselves. Things like women letting other women down, women being dependent on men.

Being independent is important. In this male dominant society, you need to be self-dependent. That way you aren’t afraid of doing things alone. Your decisions and actions become independent. You will be valued. Moreover, you won’t have to live with insecurity. Your actions will be self-driven. You can choose what’s best for you and your family irrespective of anything.

Go Dream.

Chase them.

Break all the boundaries.

Work for it.

Have a life.

Take care of your body.

Love yourself.

We all want to be respected. Why don’t we learn to respect ourselves first? Why don’t we stand up for ourselves rather than being vulnerable and wanting someone else to take a stand for us?

Why wait for the world to become a better place? Why wait for the change, when you can

BE THE CHANGE!

Be a badass. Slay every day.

Don’t listen to what people say.

Fight for your dreams.

Also, stop letting each other down. Why can’t women simply support each other. Why don’t we compliment each other, help each other out rather than competing with each other?

Let’s fix each other’s crowns

Girls it is a big world. And in this big world, we have our own worlds. Let’s focus on that first.

If we don’t help each other grow then who else will.

Jealousy gets us nowhere, empathy does.

This Women’s day let’s take a step towards being independent.
#womensupportingwomen

HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY!!
